More than 40 students of the agrarian College of Fukushima Prefecture came to get acquainted with the experience of the Gomel region in the field of overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster.
During the visit to the University, a lecture by Professor Furusawa Akir was organized for the guests. From it, the children learned about the impact of the tragedy on the economy and agriculture of the country, what problems are relevant for Fukushima today, what solutions are offered by experts.
- Despite the fact that 7 years have passed since the accident, we still feel its tragic consequences. Many people were forced to leave their homes and were evacuated, many still live in contaminated areas, experiencing problems with the use of land for agricultural purposes, - said the lecturer.
According to him, to look for answers to the question " how to restore the affected areas?"it is better to work together, and therefore the experience of countries that have experienced such a tragedy is especially valuable.
The Fukushima accident occurred on March 11, 2011 as a result of the strongest earthquake in the history of Japan and the tsunami that followed. On the territory of the station, work is continuing to eliminate its severe consequences. According to Japanese engineers, bringing the object into a stable, safe state may require up to 40 years.
