“The Faculty of Physics and Information Technology will enroll students in the speciality “Computer Security”. Applicants who wish to obtain the qualification “Information Security Specialist. Radiophysicist” have to pass the CT in Physics and Mathematics, Belarusian or Russian,” Andrei Klimenko said.

According to Dmitry Kovalenko, Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies, the relevance of security issues in the information sphere is increasing. “It is necessary to constantly search for means and methods of computer and information protection of data. This, in turn, is connected with the need to revise existing methods, means and technologies of education and requires the opening of new specialties,” the Dean said.

Dmitry Kovalenko drew attention to the fact that both private and state-owned enterprises increasingly face up with the need for specialists who know the principles of developing and applying software and hardware, cryptographic and technical means of protecting information and computer systems. “In this regard, the opening of a new speciality in computer security is very relevant. Students will acquire knowledge and skills in working with models, methods, software, information security systems during processing, storage and transmission using various technologies. They will study mathematics, software and hardware, modern computer technology and telecommunication systems,” - said the Dean.

An additional computer class will be opened to train personnel in this speciality; classes will also be held in specialized educational laboratories.

“The enrollment for two new specialities begins at the Faculty of Philology “The Belarusian Language and Literature. The Foreign Language (English)” and “The Russian Language and Literature. The Foreign Language (Chinese)”, - informed the executive secretary of the entrance examination committee.

Graduates who are interested in dual specialties will take CT in Russian or Belarusian, CT in a foreign language, as well as a written test in literature - Belarusian or Russian, depending on the profile. The Dean of the Faculty of Philology Elena Poluyan remarked that graduates of specialized classes of pedagogical profile enter these specialities without entrance tests - they only take an interview at the university.

“Last year, the first admission to the speciality “The Russian Language and Literature. The Foreign Language (English)” took place. This year, Chinese will be added to English. Upon admission, the applicant will have to decide which language to study: English or Chinese,” the Dean added. -0-
