The “Queen of Sports” celebrated the first decade of February with two events that took place in the Gomel Athletics Palace. The strongest athletes, students of the Faculty of Physical Culture of our university, were pleased with the results of their performances at the regular republican starts of the current competitive season.
So, according to the results of team wrestling, the Gomel region took the second place in the Championship and the Championship of Belarus in all-around (February 9-10), losing to the athletes of the Grodno region.
Diana Rabkova became the national champion in the pentathlon. The master's student of the Faculty of Physical Culture scored 4169 points and showed the following results in the types of pentathlon: at the 60m hurdles - 8.97 s, at the high jump - 1.74 m, shot put - 12.98 m, long jump - 5.76 m, in the 800 meters race- 2:18.27 min.
The participants of the Indoor Athletics Cup of the Republic of Belarus, held on February 11, showed a worthy fight. In the Belarusian competitive calendar, this start rightfully ranks second after the national championship. Athletes, students of higher educational institutions of all regions of the country and the city of Minsk took part in the competitions.
The athletes of our university achieved decent results in personal performances and made a significant contribution to the team shuttle, which allowed the team of the Gomel region to become the winner of the Cup!
Let's note Alina Luchsheva, who won the 400-meter race, covering the distance in 53.92 seconds, setting a personal best indoors. The winner among men was Mark Patej with a score of 48.33 s .
Kristina Koncevenko won gold in the pole vault sector, making a successful attempt at an altitude of 4.13 m, and Maria Khmelnitskaya, breaking the bar at 3.65 m, became the silver medalist. Alexander Marfushkin took the second place among men in this discipline (4, 80 m).
Vladislav Tereshonok finished second at a distance of 1500 m, and in the women's shot put Olga Grabtsevich reached the third step of the podium.
