On April 11, the world celebrates the International Day of the Liberation of Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps. It was installed in memory of the international uprising in Buchenwald. It was on this day in 1945 in World War II that Buchenwald prisoners, led by the international political center, launched an armed uprising, as a result of which they captured the camp and held it until the arrival of the Allied forces. All those who died from torture, violence, work to the point of exhaustion and Nazi experiments were honored today at the mass grave of soldiers and prisoners of war. Representatives of Gomel State University named after Francis Skaryna also laid flowers at the memorial. Remembering the past means preserving the present and preserving a peaceful future.
