On February, 2 at the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy, F. Skorina GSU, master's degrees were awarded to the graduates in a solemn atmosphere. By the decision of the state examination commission 18 undergraduates of the correspondence form of study were awarded a master's degree, the specialities "Theory and Methods of Teaching and Upbringing" and "Psychology".
This was preceded by a one and a half year course of study in the magistracy. The overwhelming majority of topics of master's theses are devoted to solving applied problems of modern psychology and pedagogy. By tradition many undergraduates defended their theses in English.
Most of the masters are already specialists (many hold leading positions) in their fields: education, medicine, business. Currently, due to the rapid development of society and the economy, the labor market increasingly requires specialists with deep knowledge who have the competencies which are necessary to solve problems quickly, therefore the popularity of the magistracy is growing. By the way, in the developed countries of the world managerial positions (starting from even the lowest level manager) can only be held by people who have at least a master's degree in the relevant field.
In the current academic year about 300 undergraduates from China are studying at the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy along with Belarusian citizens within the framework of the English-language master's programs in the specialities "Theory and Methods of Teaching and Upbringing" and "Psychology". Foreign citizens study according to the full-time program, however, because of the current difficult epidemiological situation, classes by university teachers in the first semester are conducted online. As it is planned, Chinese undergraduates are to complete their studies and receive their master's degrees at the end of June.
