Post-graduate student of the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies Alexey Rusykin and master’s degree students Dmitry Slepenkov and Alina Parakhnevich will spent a semester at the University of Palermo (Italy). 

Meeting of the students from Shanghai Industry and Commerce Foreign Language College with Rector of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, Doctor of physics and mathematics, docent Sergei Khakhomov was held on January 30, 2019. The students will receive training at GSU with a specialization in “Russian philology” and get Bachelor diploma in two years.

On 25 January 2019, a Republican meeting of the scientific community dedicated to the Belarusian Science Day was held in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event brought together about 500 representatives of the academic, university and industry sciences, young researchers, heads of ministries, departments, and higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus.

As part of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the BSSR, on January 25, 2019, Employee Recognition Ceremony in honour of honoured employees of the Central district of Gomel was held.

In September 2015 the General Assembly of the United Nations accepted a  resolution 70/1 “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” and 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Belarus expressed its adherence to Agenda 2030 and took a number of steps for its implementation nationwide.

On the cusp of  Belarusian science day  President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko presented doctor of sciences diplomas and professor certificates in Minsk on 25 January. Rector of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, doctor of physics and mathematics, docent Sergei Khakhomov was among the conferees.

Every year, on January 25, students of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine celebrate Student’s day – or Tatiana’s day. On this day Tatiana Fedosenko, a postgraduate of the Faculty of physics, speciality “Physics (industrial activity)” defended a thesis at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany). The subject of the dissertation – «Surface modification of Bipolar Plates for Fuel Cells by Plasma Treatment».

There are nearly 10 000 students at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, studying at 11 faculties. Young researchers of the University have achieved high results in scientific and innovative activities. A young scientist, an assistant professor of the Department of radiophysics and electronics Vitaly Sidsky got a commendation from the Ministry of education on January 24, 2019 for contribution to the development of science and innovative activities.

In March 2018, the Higher attestation committee of the Republic of Belarus conferred a degree of doctor of physics and mathematics to professor Khakhomov on the speciality 01.04.05 – optics.

On December 31, Alexander Lukashenko signed an order, upholding a decision of the Council of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for social support of gifted pupils and students on the allocation of funds from the republican budget at the expense of the reserve fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the promotion of gifted students.
