Erasmus+: Department of Ecology took part in development of manual to «Outdoor education encyclopedia for youth workers»

Upon invitation of the educational establishments Youth Association DRONI»  and «Hagen organization East-West- East Germany e.V.» and with support of Gomel association of children and the youth ASDEMO Head of the Department of ecology Oksana Kovaleva, associate professor of the Department Tatyana Timofeeva and a 4th year student Timofey Levintsov took part in the 2nd stage of ERASMUS+ project «Outdoor Education Encyclopedia for Youth Workers» in Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde / Märkischer Kreis, Germany, on October 3 – 11. 

Along with colleagues from 8 countries (Belarus, Poland, Russia, Georgia, Estonia, Germany, Spain and Ukraine) representatives of GSU  took part in development of the output document of ERASMUS+ project «Outdoor Education Encyclopedia» which is intended for publishing in April 2020.

This manual is based on scientific and practical experience gained within the first practical stage of the project, expedition to the high-mountain regions of Georgia and exploration of the Udziro Lake. The manual includes training programs in the open air, including methods of conducting field research expeditions and field student practices. 

Participation in this project is an opportunity for the Department of Ecology to improve the curriculum for conduction of field summer student practices (geomorphological, soil, geological, landscape-ecological, meteorological and hydrological) in accordance with modern international standards. In particular, participants gained experience in international safety standards of organization of open air student camps.
