April 7 marked the 110th anniversary of the birth of Kirill Trofimovich Mazurov - Hero of Socialist Labor, participant in the Great Patriotic War, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, First Chairman of the All-Union Council of Veterans. Representatives of Gomel State University named after Francis Skaryna took part in a solemn meeting at the memorial plaque to the famous fellow countryman.
Kirill Trofimovich was born in the village of Rudnya-Pribytkovskaya, Gomel region. The secretary of the underground Central Committee of the Komsomol Mazurov took an active part in organizing the Komsomol underground and the partisan movement in Belarus. From 1943 he was the second, and from 1944 the first secretary of the Central Committee of the LKSMB. From 1947 - in the apparatus of the Central Committee of the CP(b)B, after - 1st Secretary of the Minsk Regional Committee of the CPB, 1st Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPB. From 1965–1978 1st Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. The merits of Kirill Mazurov were awarded with orders, medals and the title of Hero of Socialist Labor.
