Alejandro Fuentes, professor of Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (Lund, Sweden) gave a lecture and a seminar class to the 3rd and 4th year students of the Law Faculty within the frames of the memorandum for cooperation between the Universities.

The lecture was devoted to the European system of human rights. During the seminar, court decisions of the European Court of Minorities and other vulnerable groups were examined. Students took an active part in the discussion of issues.

In the summer of 2019, students and teachers of the Faculty of foreign languages of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University got an opportunity to participate in the cultural and linguistic program of the Arapen France Association.

The traineeship program included classes in French held with teachers – native speakers, lectures on the culture and history of France and a rich excursion program. 19 days of the trip allowed to see Strasbourg, Montpellier, Perpignan, Coliour, Tutavel Carcassonne, Figueres and Barcelona, and, of course, Paris.

On September 19, in Minsk, at the dissertation council D.01.06.01 at the scientific and practical center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on materials science a graduate of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Sergei Barsukov was reattested after presentation of a thesis “Acoustic wave interaction in ferroelectrics  with an electroinduced controllable domain structure” in candidacy for a degree of a candidate of physics and mathematics in the speciality “Physics of a condensed state”.

2019 World Modern Pentathlon Championship was held in Budapest (Hungary), where members of the national team Olga Silkina, Anastasia Prokopenko and Irina Prosentsova became winners in team competitions, and Olga Silkina, a graduate of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, won the gold medal in individual competition and personal license for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. We are proud of the sports achievements of Gomel residents and confident in their further victories.

Head of the Department of Russian and World Literature, Professor of the Academy of Military Sciences of Russia Ivan Afanasyev became one of the authors of the collection “About Granin: Memories”, which received the Grand Prix of the All-Russian (National) contest “Book of the Year-2019”.

On September 9 – 13, the Dean of the Faculty of Law Irina Esmantovich and Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law Veronika Brilyova took part in a study trip to Latvia, Estonia and Finland with the aim of expanding cooperation in the field of research and teaching human rights in the framework of a consortium of law faculties of Belarusian universities.

An international seminar and a scientific and practical conference “Rights and obligations of participants in the educational process. Innovative approaches” within the framework of the international project EduLAW“ was held at GSU on September 12 – 13 within the frames of an international project EduLAW “The development of legal education modules for pedagogical areas of training as a contribution to the formation of an education system based on the protection of the rights of participants in the educational process” (ERASMUS + program). 

The cycle of exhibitions “Education in Belarus” organized by the Ministry of education and the Centre for International Relations of the Republic of Belarus is held at Uzbekistan on September 11 – 19, 2019. The purpose of a visit of Belarusian delegation involves presentation of opportunities of Belarusian high school in training of highly knowlegeable specialists to potential students.

International conference on global research and education InterAcademia is the continuation of successful series of conferences organized annually by community InterAcademia starting from 2002.

These conferences provide a framework for the international scientific network promoting academic and social cooperation of teachers, researchers and students of Shizuoka University (Japan) and a number of Universities of East Central and Eastern Europe. The 18th conference was held on September 4 – 7, 2019 in Budapest and Balatonfüred at the Obuda University.
