An exhibition hall of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University hosted an art exhibition by German artist Hermann Buss “Polesye elegy. The lost land”.
Creation of the series of works was preceded by the artist’s trips to the Gomel region, organized by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover, which has been collaborating with Belarus in humanitarian projects for many years.
The ceremony was attended by Arend de Vries, vice president of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Monika Schindler, head of the visa department of the German Embassy, and the artist Hermann Buss.

The rector of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University  Sergei Khakhomov addressed the visitors of the exhibition with greeting and congratulated those presentthe audience on such a significant art event in the life of the university and Gomel, emphasizing that this was not the first time that our exhibition hall became a platform for the implementation of important cultural projects.

About 50 works are presented at the exhibition. The knight of the brush depicted the desert landscapes of the Belarusian land with photographic accuracy. The main theme of the exposition is the process of destruction of unity between people, architecture and nature. Each painting reflects the majestic triumph of nature over all that remains of a person's presence here. The artist himself notes that he is amazed at how peacefully abandoned houses fit into the surrounding reality, how they naturally merge with nature. Herman Buss claims that he did not want to follow the generally accepted poster Chernobyl iconography, but was looking for a purely personal approach.

Anyone can get acquainted with the works of the German artist until November 6.
