From October 20-to October 21 Faculty of Physical Culture of F. Skorina Gomel State University co-organized the IV All-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation "Medical and physiological foundations of sports activity in the North" (Syktyvkar, Komi Republic).
The conference was opened by the Head of the Komi Republic, MD, Professor Vladimir Ujba; Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Komi Republic Natalja Karina; Director of the Institute of Physiology, MD, Professor Evgenij Bojko, Rector of Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after K.D.Ushinsky, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Mikhail Gruzdev
The following scientific reports were announced at the plenary session:
- “Functional testing of highly qualified athletes– - Aleksandr Grushin, PhD, Professor, Honored Coach of the Russian Federation, Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Olympic Committee”, (Moscow);
- “Development of Phytochemistry: adaptogens, antioxidants and dietary Supplements– - Alexandr Kuchin, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Institute of Chemistry of the Komi National Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences”, Syktyvkar;
- “Dynamics of postural stability of athletes-wrestlers during the intensification of the training process– - Andrej Melnikov, PhD, Professor, Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism”, Moscow.
From the Faculty of Physical Culture of the F. Skorina Gomel State University made a welcoming speech to the organizing committee and participants, as well as a scientific report:
– Head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture, PhD, Associate Professor - Evgenij Osipenko ("Management of physical education of preschool children"),
- senior lecturer of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Physical Culture, head of the student research laboratory "Start" - Sergey Viktorovich Melnikov ("The relationship of indicators of volume and intensity of loads with the functional fitness of highly qualified swimmers").

It is worthwhile to note that this conference was attended by leading institutions of higher education in the field of physical culture; young scientists, students, undergraduates and postgraduates, faculty of the Faculty of Physical Culture.
In addition, issues of international cooperation, organization and conduct of joint research, taking into account the epidemiological situation of COVID-19, were discussed.
