The IV Regional Robotics Tournament "ROBOQUEST" was held in the Gomel regional center of the Olympic reserve in athletics as part of the regional stage of the republican competition "JuniorSkills Belarus". It gathered about 200 participants from institutions of secondary and additional education for children and youth. The guys competed in the disciplines "Mobile Robotics" (LEGO WeDo, LEGO EV3), "Arduino Robotics", "Robot Football".

On September 4, the photo exhibition " Homo Reading " began its work at the GSU. This exhibition is a continuation of the exhibition " Reading is not harmful!", organized by the Russian center of science and culture in Gomel. The opening day started with welcoming words from the Vice-rector for educational work Yuri Nikityuk. Yuri noted the importance of the exhibition in the cultural life of the University, and also shared interesting facts from the history of the University. An important part of the event was the performance of photo artists Vladimir Chistik and Vasily Grigorenko.

An August meeting of pedagogical workers of the region was held in the palace of culture and technology "Neftyanik" in Rechitsa. The event brought together more than 700 education workers of Gomel region. At the meeting, well-deserved awards were presented, including those for the preparation of the winners of the final stage of the republican Olympiad in academic subjects. Elena Vorobyova, Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, is among the awardees.

A museum of the history of the university functions at the F. Skorina GSU. The exposition presents archival materials reflecting the history of the development of an educational institution, outstanding achievements of the university and biographies of famous graduates.

The Alliance Student Research Laboratory has been operating at the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy of the F. Skorina State University for about 20 years. Twice the association received a grant from the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for social support of gifted pupils and students, which allowed to increase its material and technical base. During the work, the participants of the laboratory are engaged in research, volunteer, educational, professional and practical activities.

Several topics - such as the results of the work of the Skorina State University for the last year, the results of the admission campaign, personnel and organizational issues, as well as the priority tasks of the university for the 2020-2021 academic year - were discussed at an expanded meeting of the University Council.

The youth (U-19) mini-football championship of Belarus ended in Borisov last weekend, with 6 teams reaching the final stage. In the decisive struggle for the championship, two teams fought: "GomGU-VRZ" and "Minsk". The intrigue, who will get the honorary title of the champion of Belarus, remained until the final match, in which the Gomel team beat Minskers 3: 1. We congratulate all members of the GomGU-VRZ team and its coach Nikita Martyanov with one more gold in the collection of awards and wish them further sporting achievements both at the republican and international levels!

A meeting of the August teachers' council was held in Rechitsa, which was attended by more than 700 employees of the educational sector of the Gomel region, as well as the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Igor Karpenko. The participants discussed the results of work and achievements for the reporting period, as well as identified the tasks for the 2020/2021 academic year.

The BisonRace obstacle race, in which athletes from Italy, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus took part, took place from 7 to 9 August at the Logoisk ski sports and recreation complex. About a thousand fans of extreme running tested themselves for strength and endurance, willpower and character. Bison Race is a mixture of trail running and crossfit.
