Student years are not only lectures, seminars, exams, but also a rich social, cultural and sports life. Great attention is paid to the disclosure of the sports potential of students and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle at our university: competitions in various sports are held at GSU, the sports base is constantly being strengthened. A significant event in the life of the university was the commissioning of the renovated sports and recreation complex, the opening ceremony of which took place on September 16.

Traditional "Library Night" took place within the walls of the Lenin Gomel Regional Universal Library. On their professional holiday, the employees of the cultural institution prepared and held interactive literary platforms, creative workshops, a law club and a photo exhibition for the guests. Poems of Gomel poets and musical compositions were performed.

From August 12 to September 15, the university held an annual campaign " With a kind heart to school!" The Volunteer Activity Center opened its doors to everyone who wished to take part in the event - students and teachers of biological, philological, geological and geographical (volunteer squad "Planet of Kindness") faculties, as well as the Faculty of Mathematics and Programming Technologies, Psychology and Pedagogy (volunteer squad "Rays of good ”, groups PS-31, PS-43), Physical culture (volunteer squad“ Mercy ”, Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Culture).

Last weekend, Gomel celebrated its 878th birthday. Interactive platforms, entertainment programs, exhibitions, play areas and much more were organized in all parts of the city. The team of employees, teachers and students of F. Skorina State University did not stand aside and took an active part in the festive events.

On the 256th day of the year, an unofficial, but already traditional holiday is celebrated in many countries of the world - the programmer's day. The number 256 is symbolic for programmers, it corresponds to the amount of numbers that can be represented using one 8-bit byte. In leap year 2020, the 256th day fell on September 12. On this day, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University became a regional platform for holding a large-scale educational action "All-Russian Dictation on Information Technologies".

The Second Festival of Literature, Art and Folk Traditions "In the Land of Kyrill of Turov" and the XV International Literary Festival "Slavic Literary Dazhynki-2020" are held on September 1-14 in the hospitable Gomel region. As part of the program, on September 10 a meeting of participants - leaders of writers' organizations of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine - with the leadership of the leading higher education institution of Gomel region, students and teachers of philology took place in the conference hall of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.

On September 9, Dmitry Dreizin, the chairman of the student council of the F. Skorina State University, attended a youth forum "From Idea to Success", which was held on the basis of the Minsk city educational and health center "Leader". During the student educational forum, a meeting of the Public Republican Student Council was held. Traditionally, there was an open dialogue with the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus Igor Karpenko, where everyone could ask a question of interest.

The Faculty of Biology became a platform for a master class by Marina Kaptsevich, the biology teacher of the highest qualification category of the State Educational Institution "School No. 8 of Gomel", on September 10. The theme of the master class was "The development of educational and cognitive competence of 8th grade students through the use of techniques for the development of critical thinking in biology lessons."

International Scientific Conference “The Patriotic War of 1812. Sources. Monuments. Problems ” takes place on the basis of the Borodinskoye Pole Museum-Reserve (Russian Federation) on 7 - 9 September. The event is timed to the 208th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino.

The Day of Knowledge was marked with a celebratory assembly at the Skorina State University. This event was happy and joyful for the freshmen and their parents. Representatives of the administration, deans of faculties, leading scientists of the university, teachers and undergraduates came to congratulate the new students. The solemn event was opened by the rector of the F. Skorina Gomel State University Sergey Khakhomov.
