April 7 marked the 110th anniversary of the birth of Kirill Trofimovich Mazurov - Hero of Socialist Labor, participant in the Great Patriotic War, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, First Chairman of the All-Union Council of Veterans. Representatives of Gomel State University named after Francis Skaryna took part in a solemn meeting at the memorial plaque to the famous fellow countryman.

The Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 brought two great sensations to Belarusian sports at once. Yulia Nesterenko, like a real white lightning, shone in the 100-meter final. The regional stage of the republican festival of artistic creativity of student youth "ART-vacancies - 2024" took place at the Gomel Medical University. Our university showed the audience and jury a rich, multi-genre program. The creative teams talentedly surprised those present with academic, folk, and pop vocals, and demonstrated interesting and vibrant choreography and miniatures. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Union State of Belarus and Russia - the agreement on its creation was signed on December 8, 1999. On April 4, 2024, the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Word about the Word: Research by Young Scientists and Philologists” took place. The conference is held annually by Astrakhan State University named after V.N. Tatishchev. Strong scientific contacts have been established with the Russian language department of this university. Mutual participation in all ongoing scientific events is carried out annually.

On April 4, the Faculty of Biology awarded diplomas and certificates to the winners for active participation in the subject Olympiad in Chemistry. The Olympics were massive. An authoritative jury consisting of teachers from the Department of Chemistry determined the following winners:

During the spring vacation, the final round of the Republican Olympiad in the academic subjects "Belarusian language" and "Belarusian literature" is traditionally held. This year, the participants (which are 112 students of general secondary education institutions of six regions of our country and the city of Minsk) were welcomed by hospitable Brest. The competition of young philologists was held on the basis of the "Brest Regional Lyceum named after P.M. Masherov".

Skorina State University, employees of the security and safety department completed advanced training courses under the program “Professional-applied physical training of security workers of organizations” at the Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of the university.

From March 25 to 29, the city volleyball championship among higher education institutions was held at the sports complex of the Belarusian State University of Transport.
