For many years, Valentine’s Day is a holiday of Catholic origin - has firmly entered the lives of people in all countries of the post-Soviet space. This holiday is shrouded in legends and mysteries, and the personality of St. Valentine himself is surrounded by riddles and contradictions. And the attitude to the holiday is different: romantic, skeptical, commercial… But the most important thing is that this holiday once again gives an excuse to make a little surprise for lovers or those to whom we sympathize.

The Lantern Festival (Yuanxiaojie) is one of the oldest holidays in China. It is held on the 15th day of the first lunar month and ends the two-week celebration of the Chinese New Year – the spring festival.

On the basis of the sports club of the Federal State budgetary educational institution of higher education “Yelets State University named after I.A. Bunin” (Yelets, Russia), the II international student online competitions were organized and held to demonstrate the technique of juggling a soccer ball.

From February 9 to 12, the Championship of the Republic of Belarus in freestyle wrestling (U-23) took place on the basis of the Polessky State University in Pinsk, which was attended by about 90 of the strongest wrestlers (under 23), representatives of all regions of the country.

It is especially joyful that students of the Faculty of Physical Training of our university, who performed as part of the Gomel region team, made a significant contribution to the team’s shuttle.

The “Queen of Sports” celebrated the first decade of February with two events that took place in the Gomel Athletics Palace. The strongest athletes, students of the Faculty of Physical Culture of our university, were pleased with the results of their performances at the regular republican starts of the current competitive season.

So, according to the results of team wrestling, the Gomel region took the second place in the Championship and the Championship of Belarus in all-around (February 9-10), losing to the athletes of the Grodno region.

The Faculty of Philology awarded diplomas to 10 graduates of the specialty “Russian Philology (Computer Support)” from the People's Republic of China. This is the third graduation of students in a joint educational program.

The Days of Belarusian Science were held in the National Pavilion of the Republic of Belarus at the World Exhibition EXPO 2020, which is being held in Dubai. The opening of the forum was postponed for a year due to the pandemic, but they did not change the name for marketing and branding purposes.

A series of master's thesis defenses in English was held at the Faculty of Economics, and a solemn ceremony of awarding master's degrees was also held. This year, the graduates of the faculty were citizens of the People's Republic of China who received education in two master's degree specialties - 1-25 80 01 “Economics” and 1-25 80 05 “Accounting, Analysis and Audit”.

In the updated Webometrics ranking published on January 31, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University took the third position among Belarusian universities and 3,744 - among the universities of the world.

At the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University a solemn presentation of master's degrees took place. Teachers, representatives of the dean's office and departments gathered to congratulate the newly minted graduates on a significant event, and close and familiar people shared the joy of the event.
