On January 17, 2020 Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, held a scientific meeting with foreign experts in science and technology working with Chinese scientific organizations and enterprises devoted to Chinese New Year. More than 100 experts from Europe, America and Australia took part in the meeting held in Beijing. Professor of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Alexander Rogachev, Director of scientific and research institute of physics and chemistry was one of the invited guests.

Pavel Larchenkov and Danila Finoshkin, students of Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies Named after G.F. Morozov spent a semester of 2019/2020 academic year at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.

Their speciality at Voronezh University is “State forestry management”, and at Gomel State University they attended lectures and practical lessons with 3rd and 4th year students of the speciality “Forestry”. This is the first visit of Pavel and Danila to Gomel within the frames of Cooperation agreement between our Universities. 

In order to expand scientific and technical cooperation a working visit was made by Rector of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University  Sergei Khakhomov, the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Information Technology Dmitry Kovalenko and the Head of the Department of Optics Vladimir Gaishun to the Włodzimierz Trzebiatowski Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Wroclaw, Poland).

Rector of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Sergei Khakhomov took part in a meeting of the Joint Work Group on Cooperation between the Kirov Region and the Republic of Belarus, headed by Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Gennadiy Solovey. The purpose of the trip was to establish interaction between Francisk Skorina Gomel State University and educational institutions of the Kirov region. As part of his visit to Kirov, Rector of our university visited Vyatka State University to participate in a round table “Inter-university cooperation”.

Two years have passed since the opening of Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. A gala event dedicated to this date was held in the conference hall of the University. The first Vice-rector of GSU Andrei Kruk, Vice-rector for academic affairs Igor Semchenko, Vice-rector for science Oleg Demidenko came to congratulate those present on the occasion. Director of Confucius Institute on the Belarusian side, Alexander Rogachev, focused on the main stages of development and establishment of the Institute.

The Republican Boxing Universiade was held from December 17 to 21 in Gomel at Gomel Regional Center for the Olympic Reserve of Martial Arts. 21 teams including 98 boxers - Belarusian students, took part in the competition. We are immensely happy about the victory of the national team of our university, which became the first in the ring of the Republican Universiade.

Within the frames of visit of GSU delegation headed by Rector of the University Sergei Khakhomov to China a meeting with Vice Rector of Hunan Normal University (Changsha, China) was held. During the meeting, an agreement was signed for joint training of higher qualification scientific personnel – for double international guidance to work on candidate’s dissertations and their defence. 

On the recommendation of the Judicial Committee of the Association “Belarusian Football Federation”, the International Football Federation approved new domestic referees as FIFA referees. 3rd student of the Faculty of distance learning and pre-university training in the specialty “Physical Culture” Amin Kurgheli was awarded the international status,conferring a right to serve matches of the international level – games of national teams and European club teams.

From November 19 to 25, students of the Faculty of foreign languages took part in a study visit to Germany ​​under the guidance of a teacher of the Department of Theory and Practice of English Language Ekaterina Okuneva. Participants of the program visited the University of Regensburg, got acquainted with functioning of the educational institution, study process and international cooperation programs.

On December 5 – 6  BSU hosted the first meeting on the new project of the Erasmus + program “Development of practically-oriented student-centred education in the field of modelling of Cyber-Physical Systems” (CybPhys), where the Faculty of Physics and Information Technology of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University takes part. 
Project coordinators are Belarusian State University and Riga Technical University.
