On December 31, Alexander Lukashenko signed an order, upholding a decision of the Council of the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for social support of gifted pupils and students on the allocation of funds from the republican budget at the expense of the reserve fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the promotion of gifted students.

The third regional stage of the Republican Physics Olympiad 2019 was held on January 8 – 11, 2019 at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. The competition period was full of creative work on solving the tasks composed by the physicists from Minsk under the instruction of the Ministry of education of the Republic of Belarus. 

Championship of the Republic of Belarus was held in Lida on January 13 – 15, 2019. About 170 sportsmen took part in the event and battled for the title of champion. Candidates for training and participation in the international contests will be chosen in accordance with the results of the Championship. The young wrestlers will conquer the heights of the European Wrestling Championships, II European games and the World Championship for selection at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
