The XI International Tournament of Young Mathematicians was held in Barcelona (Spain) in July. Two teams from Belarus took part in it and earned golden and silver medals. Pupils of Gymnasium No.71 Alexander Pechenkin and Andrey Goncharenko (team Belarus-1) participated in this contest under supervision of the senior lecturer of the Department of algebra and geometry of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Vyacheslav Murashko.
The work meeting on the project “Development and revision of study programs on human rights” realized by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) was held in Minsk on July 4 – 6, 2019 in cooperation with the Ministry of education of the Republic of Belarus.
The work meeting aiming at estimation of implementation of the work plan for 2019 was held on July 30 within the frames of cooperation between the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights (Lund, Sweden) and Francisk Skorina Gomel State University in the field of human rights for 2015 – 2019.
Summer school of informatics, robotechnics and English language «INFORMATICS AND ROBOTICS WITH ENGLISH-COURSE DRIVE – 2019» was organized by the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies and the Faculty of foreign languages of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University in July.
At the invitation of the educational institution East-West-East Germany Hague Organization (Kranenburg-Nütterden, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany), with the support of Gomel Association of Children and Youth "ASDEMO", a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Geology and Geography Timofey Levintsov took part in the event of the youth exchange program within the frames of the EU program ERASMUS + “Gender Issues”.
Belarusian and Chinese cooperation was discussed at the meeting of the leader of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University and the delegation from China on July 26, 2019. Visit of the delegation was organized within the frames of the international scientific and technical conference “Polymer composites and tribology” held at the Institute of mechanics of metal-polymer systems named after V.A. Belyy”.
On June 24 3x3 basketball matches were held at the II European Games in Minsk. The men's national team won a bronze medal. The main sensation of the tournament is the grand victory of our team in the quarterfinal over the leader of the world basketball ranking – the team of Serbia.
The winning team includes a student the Faculty of Physical Education Andrei Rogozenko, who will be awarded the title of international-class master of sports of the Republic of Belarus as a result of successful performance at the Games.
The second regional open STEAM festival for students of educational institutions of Gomel region was held in June. Educational directions were presented on S - science, T - technology, E - engineering, A - artistic creativity, M - mathematics.
The event was organized by EPAM Systems and the Educational Center of the High-Tech Park with the support of Stack, Belarusian Trade and Economic University of Consumer Cooperatives and about two dozen volunteers – students of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.
The opening ceremony of the Olympics for students of the Union State, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, was held on June 18 in the memorial complex “Brest Hero-Fortress”. The competition, which lasted until June 23, was attended by about 230 people. Russia was presented by about 100 students, participants of student sports clubs of 13 universities of the country.
A series of lectures for the teachers, undergraduates and Master’s degree students of the Faculty of Physics and Information Technologies was delivered by Dumitru Luca, a well-known scientist, Professor Emeritus of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University (Iasi, Romania).
