On March 14, a meeting of the university management with the new director of the Confucius Institute from the Chinese side, Mr. Zhang Aijun, was held at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. At the meeting, they discussed further prospects for the development of the institute and strengthening of Belarusian-Chinese cooperation.

How did a graduate of a Belarusian university become a master's student of Chinese?

After completing my master's degree at our university, I received another unique opportunity that no one can refuse - to study in the specialty that interests me in the master's program of a partner university. Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​E.V. Sazhina told me about the grant. I applied for an interview, successfully passed it and was accepted to the course.

Vice-Rector for Research Dmitry Kovalenko, Dean of the Faculty of Biology Nikolai Lebedev and Head of the International Relations Department Alexander Grahotsky held a meeting with representatives of Minhaj University (Lahore, Pakistan). During the online talks, the prospects for joint scientific research, preparation of applications for participation in the competition of joint Belarusian-Pakistani scientific and technical projects for 2025-2027 were discussed.

Foreign students and master's students of the Faculty of Economics from the People's Republic of China visited the "Spartak" factory. The students learned about its history of creation and development, competitive advantages, got acquainted with the products and the main types of raw materials for their production, walked through the production shops and saw the technological process from loading raw materials to packaging finished products.

Francisk Skorina Gomel State University has once again confirmed its high status, having achieved significant success in international rankings. According to the latest data from the authoritative Webometrics Ranking of World Universities (WRWU), the university ranks third among higher education institutions in Belarus, demonstrating stable growth and strengthening its position in the global arena. Webometrics, one of the most well-known university rankings, is developed by the Spanish research group Cybermetrics under the National Research Council.

On February 12, 2025, a bright and colorful concert dedicated to the celebration of the New Year according to the lunar calendar was held in the Assembly Hall of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University. The event, organized by the Confucius Institute, brought together students, teachers, students of Chinese language courses, as well as city residents to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a traditional Chinese holiday.

The guests met with the rector of the university Sergey Khakhomov. During the negotiations, the issues of recruiting Chinese citizens for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs, as well as the implementation of joint educational programs with higher education institutions of the PRC, were discussed.

Today, the rector of the university, Sergey Khakhomov, awarded Bachelor's diplomas to 52 graduates from among the citizens of the People's Republic of China. The students studied at the Gomel State University under the experimental project "Implementation of the Model of Integration of the Educational Program and Higher Education Degree (Republic of Belarus) with the Educational Program of Non-University Higher Education (PRC) in a shortened timeframe."
