On January 28, 2022, the defense of media projects took place at the "Winter School of Journalism and Media Communication" of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the participants of which were three students of the Philological Faculty of the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University: Anastasia Britova, Nadezhda Kovalevich and Tatiana Piminenkova. For two weeks, we listened to lectures by leading teachers of the Faculty of Journalism and developed author's media projects under the guidance of MSU teachers.

Soloists and creative teams of the student club of our university took part in the international art competition.

"Klovo Kolorovo" festival project Fine Fest, which was held in Slavutich (Ukraine).

The soloist of the student club Emilia Epikhina became the winner of the I degree in the nomination "Pop vocal" (solo), the choreography studio "Dance GSU" - the winner of the II degree in the nomination "Pop dance", the national student theater "Mirror" - the diploma of the I degree in the nomination "Theatrical creativity".

The ceremony of awarding state awards and diplomas of academician and corresponding member to scientists of the National Academy of Sciences took place at the Palace of Independence. The President invited two and a half hundred scientists and experts to the solemn event. Among the invited guests is the Vice–Rector for Academic Affairs of the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, Professor Igor Semchenko.

Rector of the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Sergei Khakhomov made a report “Formation of the common educational space of the Union State: directions for deepening integration in the field of educational and scientific organizations and initiatives” at the discussion session “Security and economic sovereignty of the Union State of Belarus and Russia: common priorities”, organized by the A.A. Gromyko Association for Foreign Policy Studies and the Republican Public Association “Belaya Rus”.

Winter has pleased us with an invigorating frost and sparkling snow. A wonderful festive atmosphere prevailed at the Gomel Ski Run-2022 on Saturday, January 22.

The participants of the city holiday, who competed in ski races, were pupils of secondary schools, students of colleges and students of universities of Gomel.

Among fans of winter sports, students of the Faculty of Physical Culture of our university showed high results in competitions.

From January 18 to 21, the Belarusian Sports Acrobatics Championship was held in Gomel, in which the strongest acrobats of the country took part.

We are proud of the students of the Faculty of Physical Training of our university, who adequately represented the Gomel region and made a significant contribution to the team piggy bank – according to the results of the competition, the Gomel region took the second place!

On January 17, 2022, the "Winter School" of the Faculty of Journalism of the Lomonosov Moscow State University began its work. "Winter School" is an international educational project for students of foreign universities. As a result of the competitive selection , three students of the Faculty of Philology of the Francisk Skorina Gomel State University became its participants. They are Anastasija Britova and Nadezhda Kovalevich from the RF-41 group, Tatjana Piminjonkova from the BF-31 group.

From January 12 to 16, the Belarusian Wrestling Championship-2022 took place in the Shakhtar tennis arena in Soligorsk, in which the titled athletes of our country in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling took part.

Students and graduates of the Faculty of Physical Training of our university performed as part of the national team of the Gomel region.

Dmitry Shamelo (57 kg) became the winner in the freestyle wrestling competitions among men. The bronze awards were won by Aleksej Parkhomenko (125 kg) and our graduate Evgenij Rebikov (61 kg).

The traditional beginning of the new year for students of the Faculty of Physical Training was the holding of ski training camps at the educational and scientific base of our University "Chenki", where all the necessary conditions for learning skiing and teaching methods have been created.

It should be noted that in the current academic year, the university has purchased new modern equipment, and in the future it is planned to provide the educational process with roller skis for training in snow-free time.

In November 2021, an international creative essay contest "The Power of Thought – the Power of Words" was held on the basis of Pyatigorsk State University, which was organized within the framework of the project "The Russian language conquers the world space". What is the power of language and the power of the word? What gives a person knowledge of foreign languages? Why do many people in the modern world learn Russian? The contestants discussed these and other problems about language as a phenomenon, about foreign languages and about the Russian language in their essays.
