American scholars share their knowledge with GSU students

The students of the Faculty of psychology and pedagogy attended the lecture of a scholar from the USA Kenneth Brockman, an expert in nuclear physics who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 as part of a group of IAEA scientists for "measures to prevent the use of atomic energy for military purposes".  The interactive lecture was devoted to the issues of psychological follow-up in emergencies. 

Development of pre-trial procedure – conference in Gomel

Current issues of development of pre-trial procedure at criminal trials were discussed at the 1st International scientific and practical conference devoted to the 7th anniversary of the Republic of Belarus Investigative committee establishment.

According to the vice-chairman of the Investigative committee Sergei Azemsha, the opinion exchange of the current theoretical problems in the criminal trial process on the stage of preliminary investigation would interest a wide range of specialists.

Lecturers from the USA delivered lectures at the Faculty of psychology and pedagogy

The representatives of American Association for the Advancement of Science – Eve Nimkar (“Delta Community Credit Union”, Atlanta, the USA) and Dr Jason McNaughten delivered lectures “Psychology of business and management” and “Positive / of depression” to the students of the Faculty of Psychology and pedagogy on September 13, 2018. After the lectures the scholars of GSU and their American colleagues attended a seminar devoted to the discussion of the relevant issues in the sector of psychology.

Congratulations to Sergei Barsukov on winning the PhD diploma

On September 14, 2018 Shizuoka University (Japan) hosted the awards ceremony – PhD degree was conferred to the graduate of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University Sergei Barsukov.

His thesis “Acoustic wave interaction in ferroelectrics with an electroinduced controllable domain structure” was defended on July 17, 2018 within the frames of the double degree programme between Francisk Skorina Gomel State University and Shizuoka University. The scientific supervisors are Professor Sergei Khakhomov (Belarus) and Professor Jun Kondoh (Japan).

Cooperation with one of the oldest universities of Germany

PD. Dr. habil. Olga Keller (Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen), a coordinator of European academic mobility programmes for higher education institutions in Belarus, delivered lectures to the students and lecturers of the Faculty of history within the frames of the EU project ERASMUS+ on September 15, 2018. Professor Keller explained a number of issues concerning the long-term internships at the University of Tübingen. 

Dedicated to his native Gomel

On September 5, members of the Student Council of the University together with the staff of OMISS took part in the design of the thematic exhibition in celebration of the city Day.

Colorful drawings and photographs in frames, exhibition of old towels, themed quiz "Native Gomel", master-class "Romanovy Machacek," the creative platform "I naradziysya here" – student Council of the University has prepared for the inhabitants of Gomel a lot of interesting gifts.

Students of GSU took part in the opening of the festival «Sozhski Karagod»

On September 14, the Grand opening of the IX international festival of choreographic art "Sozhski Karagod" took place at the stadium "Central". The opening ceremony was attended by students of the Gomel state University, which became part of the large-scale dance show "time has chosen us". In the finale of the fest, the girls performed the song "Our dance", which culminated in the emblem of the festival - a ready-to-fly stork. The image of this proud and tender bird is closely connected with the Gomel land.

International Congress of the Association of Space Flight Participants

Head of the Department of Optics Vladimir Gaishun and Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics Gennady Tyumenkov took part in the XXXI International Congress of the Association of Space Flight Participants, which was held in Minsk.

The event brought together about 90 cosmonauts from 19 countries. The largest delegations came from Russia and the United States. The event involved participants from Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Austria, China and other countries.

Vice Rector for academic affairs, Doctor of physics and mathematics, Professor Igor Semchenko took part in the XXI International Congress on Artificial Materials for Novel Wave Phenomena Metamaterials'2018 that was hosted by Aalto University (Espoo, Finland) on August 27 – 30, 2018.

The Congress provides a topical forum to share the latest results of the metamaterials research in Europe and worldwide, bringing together the engineering, physics, applied mathematics and material science communities working on artificial materials.
