In the updated Webometrics ranking published on January 31, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University took the third position among Belarusian universities and 3,744 - among the universities of the world.

Francisk Skorina Gomel State University consistently maintains its primacy among higher education institutions of the Gomel region, and among the country's universities it is among the top three. The first place was taken by the Belarusian State University, the second - by the Belarusian National Technical University. Harvard University, Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology became the leaders of the ranking among the world's universities.

Webometrics (Webometrics Ranking of World Universities) analyzes more than 30 thousand educational institutions in the world, but assigns a rating to only 12 thousand. In January of this year, 57 educational institutions of Belarus were included in the rating.

The Webometrics rating has been compiled by the Spanish research laboratory Laboratorio de Internet for more than 10 years. Higher education institutions were ranked according to three indicators characterizing the level of scientific publications and the presence of universities in the global Internet space: “influence” – the citation of the site, “openness” - the number of files according to the Google Scholar search engine and “excellence” - the number of publications of university staff included in the 10% most cited in the world according to the scientometric database Scopus. The rating is updated twice a year – in January and July.
