On April 17, 2026, the Chinese song contest "The Chinese Language: Igniting Bright Dreams" was held at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University to mark International Chinese Language Day. The event was organized by the Confucius Institute at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.
The event is one of the institute's traditional cultural initiatives and annually brings together students and everyone interested in the Chinese language and culture. This year, 10 competitive groups and performers performed on stage, presenting a diverse musical program.
Opening the event, Yuri Nikityuk, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, and Alexander Rogachev, Director of the Belarusian Confucius Institute, welcomed the participants and guests, congratulated them on International Chinese Language Day, and noted the importance of such projects for developing humanitarian cooperation. In their speeches, they emphasized the role of the Chinese language as an important tool for intercultural dialogue and expressed confidence that the competition will strengthen Belarusian-Chinese ties and promote language learning.
The competition program showcased a wide range of genres, from works based on classical poetry to contemporary popular compositions. The participants demonstrated a high level of language proficiency and stage presence, successfully conveying the mood and meaning of their pieces.
Both the lyrical compositions and dynamic numbers resonated with the audience. The program featured well-known Chinese songs, including works based on classical poetry, as well as popular hits. Each performance was accompanied by a lively reaction from the audience.
Amina Aleksandrovna Dorokhova, a master's student at the Belarusian State University of Transport, took first place in the competition. Her performance of "Protivy Vetra" (Against the Wind) was distinguished by its expressiveness and emotional depth, earning high praise from the jury.
At the conclusion of the event, Confucius Institute instructor Xu Ying thanked the participants for their enthusiasm and creativity, noting that such competitions not only help improve language skills but also provide a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and foster intercultural communication.
